Apparently, Ladies First struck a nerve—and not just with me.
The movie got me thinking about who gets centered in film, whose bodies become part of the scenery, and how “normal” certain choices have become simply because we’ve seen them repeated for decades.
I’m not interested in bashing filmmakers or telling anyone what they’re allowed to enjoy. I’m interested in questioning the systems, patterns, and unspoken rules behind what we’re watching.
These are my thoughts on the subject of film. Maybe they’re your flavor. Maybe they’re not—but the conversation has started.
Watching Ladies First left me with one very simple question:
Why has film spent decades showing female tits and ass—but almost no dicks, pecs, or male butts?
Women weren’t only treated unfairly by the system. We were expected to watch our bodies be exposed, sexualized, and used as scenery—and just suck it up and accept that this was “normal.”
Why?
